Lasheyl has overcome tremendous obstacles without wavering in her faith or her commitment to public service. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She serves as a mentor and volunteer in her community and is an active member of New Covenant Believers' Church. She is a Breast Cancer Survivor and a champion of change.
