Programs and Services for Women Cancer Survivors
African American women face unique challenges when it comes to cancer. The statistics reveal a troubling reality: they often experience higher incidence rates and poorer outcomes compared to their white counterparts. According to recent reports from the American Cancer Society, many types of cancers have significantly lower five-year relative survival rates for Black individuals.
This disparity is attributed to a combination of factors, including socioeconomic barriers, access to healthcare, and systemic inequalities in treatment options.
ATT's initiative is designed to address these disparities head-on by offering a safe space for African American women to connect, share their experiences, and access resources tailored to their specific needs. The program recognizes that emotional well-being is as crucial as physical health during cancer treatment and recovery.
